For Lighting Designers

"Can We Do Something
With the Audience's Phones?"

Every LD gets that question from a client. Wave2.Club is the answer — a synchronized crowd phone lighting platform you can add to a rider, recommend to a client, or self-operate from a second browser tab at FOH. No console changes. No extra hardware. No DMX universe. The client can even run it themselves.

Why LDs Recommend Wave2.Club

It Fits Into Your Workflow Without Disrupting It

Zero Console Impact

Wave2.Club is cloud-based. It has no connection to your console, patch, or DMX/ArtNet network. Your show file is untouched. Your universe is untouched. Add crowd lighting without opening the programmer.

Add It to the Rider

The only technical requirement is an internet connection for the operator device — standard at any venue. No special power drops, no extra nodes, no racks. Easy to spec, easy to clear.

Client Can Run It Themselves

Set up the event and pre-program your color sequences. Then hand the dashboard to the client, tour manager, or PA to operate. You stay focused on the main rig. They get their crowd moment.

Pre-Program Your Color Palette

Define the color sequences, chase patterns, and timing in advance. Save them to the event. During the show, triggering is a single button press — no decisions needed in the moment.

Easy to Budget

$99 per event for unlimited attendees. Easy to include in a production budget line, expense back to the client, or quote as an add-on service. No per-head cost, no rental, no logistics to manage.

Works on Any Console

MA3, Hog4, Ion Xe, Chamsys MagicQ, Titan — it doesn't matter. Wave2.Club doesn't care what you're running on. It runs in a browser tab and syncs over the internet, independent of your rig.

How It Works

From Setup to Showtime

1

Create the Event

Log into the Wave2.Club dashboard and create a new event. Name it, set the date, and optionally add sponsor branding. Takes under two minutes.

2

Program Your Colors

Pre-load your color sequences — solid colors, chases, strobes. Match the palette to the production design or the artist's brand. Save to the event.

3

Display the QR Code

Put the event QR code on the venue screen or in the event app. Audience members scan and join — no download, no registration. Takes seconds.

4

Trigger at Showtime

During the show, the operator presses a color button to change the crowd lighting. All connected phones update in real time. Cue it manually to the show, or hand the controls to the client.

Two Ways LDs Use Wave2.Club

Run It Yourself or Delegate It

LD-Operated from FOH

Some LDs prefer to keep control of the crowd layer — running Wave2.Club from a second laptop or tablet at their FOH position alongside their main console. This gives tightest integration with the show's visual moments — you trigger the crowd color to match a key cue or a musical climax.

The browser dashboard is lightweight and stays out of the way. A second screen or a tablet is all you need. Your console workflow is unaffected.

Client Self-Operates

If the client or event organizer wants to be hands-on with the crowd moment — or if you simply want to reduce your scope of work during the show — set up the event, program the colors, and hand the dashboard to the client, tour manager, or a production assistant.

The operator interface is simple enough that no lighting background is required. A brief five-minute walkthrough before doors is all it takes. You stay focused on the main rig.

FAQ for LDs

Questions from Lighting Professionals

Can I run Wave2.Club from the same position as my console?
Yes. Wave2.Club runs in a browser tab or on a separate device at your FOH position. Most LDs use a second laptop or a tablet positioned at their desk. The dashboard is lightweight — it doesn't require significant processing power or a dedicated machine. You can also delegate it to a production assistant positioned elsewhere in the venue while you stay focused on the main rig.
Does the audience need to be on the venue's WiFi?
No. Wave2.Club's sync protocol works over 4G/LTE mobile data. The audience uses their own phone's cellular connection — you don't need to provision venue WiFi capacity for the crowd, and there's no network infrastructure change needed in your rider. Only the operator device (your laptop or tablet) needs internet access, which can come from venue WiFi or a mobile hotspot.
Does it work with my existing console — MA, Hog, Ion, Chamsys?
Wave2.Club is completely independent of any lighting console or protocol. It doesn't matter what console you run — MA3, Hog4, Ion Xe, Titan, Chamsys MagicQ, or anything else. Wave2.Club runs in a browser and controls the audience's phone screens via a cloud server. Your console, show file, and DMX universe are untouched.
Can I pre-program the sequence and hand control to the client?
Yes — this is one of the most popular workflows. Set up the event before the show, pre-load your color sequences and intensity values, then hand the dashboard URL and login to the client, tour manager, or production assistant. They trigger cues with a single button press during the show. You define the palette, they operate. Brief them in five minutes before doors.
Can I include Wave2.Club as a billable add-on service to the client?
Many LDs pass through the cost of Wave2.Club as a line item on the production budget, with a standard markup for specifying, setting up, and programming the system. The cost is predictable (flat per-event fee) and the rider requirements are minimal, making it an easy upsell for any event where the client has asked about audience engagement.
What if not all audience members participate?
Partial participation is normal and expected. The crowd lighting effect is visible and striking even at 30–50% participation — a sea of glowing screens synchronized in color is visually impactful even if not every phone is in the show. Participation is highest when the QR code is displayed prominently on the main screen before the show and the MC or artist draws attention to it. At events with strong promotion, 40–70% participation rates are common.
